I aim to capture the dramatic effect of the changing light and weather conditions on the Cumbrian landscape. My Work is made by building up layers of fleece which I have carded well to create a variety of colours and shades.  I often cut back through the layers of felt to reveal hidden colours beneath giving my work a three-dimensional effect.

All my pieces are hand rolled using mainly Merino and Bluefaced Leicester wool, which I dye myself. I have been making felt for 15 years and it still holds a hidden magic for me. Visit me at my studio in the chapel at Catherine Holme and see how felt is made.
