Brookside, High Bank Hill,
Using techniques and methods of ink-painting and calligraphy of the Far East , China and Japan (where I trained) I make works of ink and paper. The materials allow a fast, once-only, expressive line, with references to a long calligraphic tradition, and a different way of looking at my surroundings. At present I am completing my project Pig in Japan : a body of work based on the urban, rural and spiritual landscapes of Japan and funded by a grant from the Arts Council England. |
