In 2006 I spent seven months as artist in residence at Kathmandu University . Ten years of civil war had just ended, and despite years of poverty and isolation a newer, younger generation of artists is emerging with a voice that deserves to be heard.

A proposal for a Kathmandu Arts Centre emerged during five months of discussion, to comprise a world class contemporary art museum, an art centre with studios for an international artists exchange programme and a purpose built art school - all of which should give the artists of Nepal the tools to change their lives.
